THE JUMP FOR JAMAICA TALENT CONTEST
Rules & Regulations:
Be sure to read all contest rules & eligibility information to clearly understand the Contest guidelines.
1. THE CONTEST
We are looking for videos that show how talented you are. Be yourself, real and creative in your delivery and performance. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the Talent in each category (Dance and Voice) who submits the best entry as determined by audience vote in combination with the judges’ discretion in accordance with Contest Rules.
2. ELIGIBILITY
This Contest is open to individuals or groups who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence. This competition is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario Canada and each Entrant agrees to be subject to the laws of Ontario in the interpretation and application of these rules. Limit one (1) entry per person or group during the Contest Period. The following individuals are not eligible: (a) members of the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. (b) members of the immediate family of a person who is a member of the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc.
3. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Each entry must also comply with the following:
a) Each entry must utilize the Jump For Jamaica – All Stars Anthem or the Jump For Jamaica – Instrumental version and must be no longer than 3:49 – the duration of the approved tracks. (Entries that do not use these either of there tracks will not be considered).
b) Entrants will be required to review, and agree that they have read the Contest Rules.
c) Entrants will be required to enter his/her full name(s), valid contact email address, telephone number, as well as the URL link to his/her entry video – and (optionally) 2 (two) URL links to support materials. Entrants must agree to the Contest Rules in the link of the Contest Page.
d) Only one Talent can represent each entry. In the event that a group (more than one) performs together in an entry, the entry will be entered under the name of a primary Talent. In the event that an entry created by a group (and submitted by a primary Talent) is declared the winner in accordance with these Contest Rules, the prize will be awarded to the primary Talent and it will be the responsibility of the primary entrant to distribute the prize.
e) Only two Prize Packages will be rewarded – one to each of the First Place Winners – Dance and Voice.
f) Entries must be the Entrant’s own original work, must not have been previously published, released or distributed in any form; must not have won any awards or formal recognition; and must not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other personal or proprietary rights of any person or entity.
g) Music used in the entry must be either the Jump For Jamaica – All Stars Anthem or the Jump For Jamaica – Instrumental version and thereby not require any additional clearances for Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. to use or post on public websites or to use in public forums of any kind.
h) The entry must not contain or reference any names, products or services of any company or entity or any third party trademarks, logos, trade dress or promotion of any brand, product or service.
i) If any persons appear or are referred to in the entry, the Entrant is solely responsible for obtaining consent (signed waiver), prior to submitting the video. Formal entry of the video will represent any required clearances. In the event where clearances are not covered, the video entry will be disqualified from the Talent Contest.
j) Entries that are lewd, obscene, sexually explicit, pornographic, disparaging, defamatory, libelous, or entries that otherwise (in the opinion of Jamaica 50 Celebration Inc.) contain inappropriate content or objectionable material may not be submitted and may be removed at any time at Jamaica 50 Celebration Inc.’s sole and unfettered discretion.
k) Entrants agree to indemnify and hold Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. harmless from and against any suits, claims, losses, damages and expenses, including attorney fees that may arise from or in connection with any Talent’s entry and the use and or display of the Talent’s entry.
l) Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not conform to these Contest Rules.
m) Entrants must retain a copy of the entry in its original format after uploading to social media sites. Entrants may be required to provide the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. with your entry in its original format. Entrants may also be required, at any time, to provide proof of purchase of the music used in their entry. If proof cannot be provided, the entry may automatically be disqualified. By entering the Contest, the entrant agrees and understands that all entries may be posted on Jamaica 50 Celebration Inc.’s web and social media sites for viewing by the general public and grants the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc., in perpetuity, a non- exclusive license to publish, display, reproduce or otherwise use the entry for Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. in its sole discretion whatsoever and without compensation to the entrant.
n) Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. does not guarantee the posting of any entry and reserves the right not to allow the posting of an entry for any or no reason. All entries become the property of Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. and will not be returned to the Entrant.
4. FINALISTS SELECTION
Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. will select 5 (five) semi-finalists based on the following 4 (four) criteria:
- 25% – Performance, skill and clarity of artistic talent
- 25% – Originality and creativity
- 25% – Demonstration of being ready for the world stage
- 25% – Overall Impression and use of Jump For Jamaica song or music
4. FINALISTS SELECTION
All Entrants grant Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. the right to display their entries on its website for purposes of this Contest. Entrants further grant Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. the right to display their entries on third party sites including youtube.com, facebook.com and twitter.com for promotional purposes. The Winners hereby grant Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. a royalty free license, without geographic or time limitation, to display his or her entry for promotional or advertising related purposes in any and all media. The use of the entry after the Contest for advertising and promotional purposes may or may not include the Entrant’s name and city, state, or country of residency. Winners agree to sign any documents that may be necessary to affect the assignment of the licensing rights of their entry video (solely).
6. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
a) Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. reserves the right in its sole discretion, to modify the terms and conditions of the Contest, cancel, terminate, and/or suspend the Contest and to disqualify any Entrant that tampers with the entry process, violates these contest rules, or acts in a disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner. Without limiting the foregoing, Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. may reject any entry, if in Jamaica 50 Celebration Inc.’s sole judgment, the Talent has been disqualified, has questionable eligibility or is otherwise ineligible to enter or participate.
b) Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. may modify, cancel, terminate, and/or suspend the Contest if, in their sole opinion, an incident of any kind occurs to corrupt or impair the administration, security, integrity, fairness or play (as intended) of the Contest, including without limitation: (a) earthquake, flood, fire, storm or other natural disaster, act of God or (b) labor controversy or threat thereof, civil disturbance or commotion, disruption of the public markets, war or armed conflict (whether or not officially declared).
c) Release – By participating in this Contest, all Entrants agree (for themselves and on behalf of their heirs and successors) to release, indemnify and hold harmless Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. from and against any liability, injury, death, loss or damages to Entrant or any person or entity, including without limitation damage to personal or real property, caused in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of their participation in this Contest (or related activities) or their acceptance, possession or use/misuse of a prize.
d) Publicity – Except where prohibited, Entrants hereby grant Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. the right to use their names, likenesses, voices, opinions and biographical information for publicity or promotional purposes.
e) Entry Errors/Internet – Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, stolen, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected entries.
4. PRIVACY
By participating in this Contest, an entrant grants to the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. the right to use his/her likeness and name, mailing address, including city of residence, telephone number and email address (“Personal Information”) without further permission or compensation for the purpose of administering the Contest including but not limited to, contacting and announcing the winner and acknowledges that the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. may disclose the Personal Information to third parties or service providers of the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. in connections with the foregoing.
By accepting a prize in this Contest, winner grants to the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. the right to use their Personal Information including any photographs or comments for publicity and promotional purposes relating to the Contest without compensation or further permission and acknowledges that the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc. may disclose the Personal Information to third parties or service providers of the Jamaica50 Celebration Inc.in connections with the foregoing.
